Robyn Rihanna Fenty, better known as Rihanna, is a 32-year-old singer , actress, businesswoman, ambassador, philanthropist and writer born in St Michael, Barbados (20 February 1988). Rihanna had a tough upbringing with her parents, but she’s never stopped trying to succeed and improve. She soon became an award-winning artist, and one of the twenty-first century’s most popular and influential women.
Her life storey and everything she had to face and overcome led her to establish and assist various social causes that displayed her charitable and philanthropic side, frequently and in different ways. We want to share with you a charitable and altruistic facet of one of the most famous artists of our time. We checked the causes that she supports, and the honours that she won for what she did.
She founded the Believe Foundation in 2006, when Rihanna was barely 18 years old, a charitable charity designed to support children with potentially terminal diseases such as can-cer, AIDS, and leukaemia. This foundation provides the materials that are required for under-resourced and underfunded schools. It also donates clothes for homeless children. Over the years , the media have lauded her contributions and all the work she has done in this organisation.
The group honoured her in 2011.
The singer joined other celebrities in 2008 to raise awareness of the battle against AIDS through a fashion campaign that H&M organised to promote their new collection. The famous fast-fashion brand donated a portion of this collection ‘s sales to suffer this disease and raised millions of dollars. The singer was one of 15 female artists who took part in a TV special called Stand Up to Can-cer the very same year.
The aim was to collect as much funds as possible to support research into can-cer. They succeeded in collecting a staggeringly high $100 million. Rihanna played as early as 2012 in a benefit gig at the House of Blues in Los Angeles that sought to raise funds for the OrthopedicCenter for Children. She has also participated in the children’s hospital ‘s Mark Taper-Johnny Merceren Artist Program.
The artist then founded the Clara Lionel Foundation (named after grandparents of the singer), also in 2012, with the goal of providing education and health assistance to the Barbados people. Subsequent to Hurricane Dorian, assistance was given to Barbadians through the base. Today the foundation has expanded its activities and is providing services around the world for education , health, and emergency relief.

Shortly thereafter, in honour of Rihanna’s late grandmother, the singer donated modern radiotherapy equipment worth $1.75 million to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados that would later change its name to the Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.

The first campaign managed to raise up to $60 million for the AIDS-affected women and children. One year later, in 2014, the singer collaborated with UNAIDS to provide the treatment and information necessary to prevent the disease from spreading.
A few years later, in 2016, Rihanna teamed up with the Global Education Partnership and the Global Citizen Project to tackle the global education crisisRihanna has become the project’s first global ambassador, thanks to her proactive advocacy.
2017 saw the start of a trip to Rihanna, who visited Malawi in January as an ambassador for the Global Education Partnership together with the aforementioned Global Citizen Project. She met with educators , students, and officials during the trip to improve the quality of the education for future generations of the country.
The entrepreneur founded Fenty Beauty that same year, an inclusive cosmetic brand for all skin tones and coloursShe also received the Harvard Foundation’s Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award at her Massachusetts campus, owing to her outstanding commitment to humanitarian work.
Rihanna continues to back these causes, foundations, and associations today. She was also awarded by NAACP for her singing career as well as her ongoing efforts to support philanthropic work. She donated several million dollars to the research and treatment of diseases so far, this year alone, making her one of the few celebrities that has tackled the challenges that our world is currently facing.
